New Tactics for OWS #2 – ONE WORLD CURRENCY

HEY OCCUPY WALL STREET!  PUT OUT A CALL AROUND THE WORLD FOR A SINGLE GLOBAL CURRENCY.

From the beginning of my participation with Occupy Wall Street I have advocated for an absurdist approach to demands.  Why?  Not because I want chaos, but because the problems we face are too large for singular or systemic legislative programs.  Creativity demands risk.  For this reason very early on I suggested in various Think Tanks that we ought to respond to the call for demands, with a universal demand for LOVE.  I thought this would do, what I continue to think is the only thing that will allow the people to grab ahold of power, which is putting forth an idea that really can topple oppressive regimes, and LOVE can do it baby, but that is not what this post is about…this is a premise, to let you know the style of my thought, how I go about processing political ideas.  In other words, only through grabbing people by their deepest unconscious desires for something miraculous and magical, will this movement resurrect itself, and be conscious itself, rather than continue to be a worldwide population of practice dummies for the global police force.

All that being said…I put forth the following idea in that spirit.  If the Occupation movements around the world began calling for a single GLOBAL CURRENCY…this would shake things right down to their very core.  This shaking, this quaking, this would generate power, and this power could be used to create a new enthusiasm for the direct democracy that people hunger for, but have grown convinced is not possible.  What makes the demand for GLOBAL CURRENCY absurd, is that we have no idea what the consequences would be…it is a leap of faith, and that is what people want…not political theory and rehashed marxist materialism.  Give people something exciting and daring and new, the future instead of the past.

Here area  few consequences I see of enacting GLOBAL CURRENCY:

1.  This would create a system of evaluation that would be truly universal.  This would make it nearly impossible to continue current exploitative labor practices.

2.  This would reveal how governments are used to hide an international corporate control system, by selling people on the idea that they are separate.  This would break down the borders.

3.  This would help us do the very scary thing, of beginning to have a very real economic relationship with our environment, as the currency would begin to reflect the costs on nature and peoples’ effort.

The real power lays in the complicated false machinery that corporations build to distract us from the simplicity of our enslavement.  GLOBAL CURRENCY would reveal the very weak link in that chain and our commitment to it would scare them silly…Occupy Wall Street, give up the logic that is rooted in old Enlightenment democratic ideals, and be risky and creative, it really is your only hope.

  1. Agreed. What is really needed which is a Single Global Currency, managed by a Global Central Bank within a Global Monetary Union.
The success of the euro, despite the recent problems caused by national deficits, shows that monetary union is the best way to ensure monetary stability. If 16 countries can use the same currency, why not 192? The world should begin researching and planning now for a Single Global Currency, which would eliminate the current foreign exchange trading expense of $200-400 billion annually, eliminate the need for expensive foreign exchange reserves, eliminate currency fluctuations, and bring other benefits worth trillions.
The Single Global Currency Assn. promotes the implementation of a Single Global Currency by 2024, the 80th anniversary of the 1944 conference.
That’s only 16 years away. The Assn’s website is http://www.singleglobalcurrency.org. See, also, the book, “The Single Global Currency – Common Cents for the World.”

Please consider reading this paper on Collectivism:

      G. Edward Griffin, 2011

Then you will understand why one-world-currency would have a very destructive result. One world currency, after all, would complete one of the last barriers for the completion of ‘globalization’ and centralization of the economy and in effect compliment the neo-fascist movement, 1%, or whatever you, Dennis Kucinish or Ron Paul might call collectivism.
We need to consciously and hastily be working as a non-partisan swarm to enable decentralizing technology, finance and human society. Internet that facilitates this very kind of conversation is a prime example of decentralizing technology. Wozniak and Jobs stole the Prometheus fire from Big Blue and made it available to individuals; making digital science democratization. What means of social integration and independence can we envision? A good example is the localization of banks that Ellen Brown is actively promoting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellen_Brown
