After hearing news reports in the background of my distracted morning driving of European countries downsizing their governments under economic pressure I realized that there is a global deconstruction of representative government. That is what is really happening. Anybody who knows anything about economics (like me) knows that there is plenty of ‘capital’ out there, so any excuses to downsize governments are just that, excuses. So, thinking people need to ponder the deeper reality, the fact that representative government is becoming obsolete, right now, and begin living in that reality…because only through acceptance of facts can powerful natural philosophies be built.
I have been saying for years that the technology exists that allows every citizen to represent him/herself directly, that representative government is an antiquated technology built in the time of horse-drawn information. In other words, I’m getting exactly what I’ve asked for. People are being left to represent themselves. Anarchy is happening, and its being built by corporations. Even though the conversation isn’t being had publicly, we have to accept that those in power are orchestrating a global deconstruction of governmental institutions.
We must be mindful of where power remains, in the hands of the corporate ‘persons’, the godheads of our current political reality. As our global governmental biases are being destroyed through rather rapid forms of attrition, we have to form new ways of thinking about the political world, if we wish to have political efficacy, to represent ourselves well. This is not an anti-corporate rant, or a call to rebuild our government, but rather a pointing-out of the political reality and an honest expression of ignorance about the consequences. I have no idea what it means to be set ‘free’ from Enlightenment forms of democracy, and to walk into a 21st century free-market model of global relation, but I know it’s happening, and I think its important to understand the inertia of such things, if only to eliminate the pointless protest, the standing on the shore of tsunamis. The future has everything to do with rapid change, and the liberating philosophies will use this to their advantage.
If one thing defines me as a philosopher, it is this: The survival of good people is preferable to symbolic sacrifice.
