Confusion as Politik

Of course, this Kony 2012 ‘thing’ has been tossed around like fresh gossip at the ladies Sunday tea party.  And many are confused about what the hell is going on with it, and where one is supposed to put one’s emotional weight.  For my part, I see it as a manifestation of largely unconscious forces, a machine sort of mass consciousness that can be triggered by unknown economic pressures, that might have its sources in clandestine private interests.  So, it is important to express ourselves in a nuanced way about such things, so that our skepticism about the Kony 2012 ‘thing’ does not further the notion that we are not concerned about child soldiering, both here and abroad.  However, as you see in the article I’ve posted about the founder Jason Russell, who was detained on reports of ‘masturbating in public’, it is not very difficult to speculate very odd things around this.  It sounds to me like he was given some pretty heavy drugs…perhaps he took them willingly, who knows…but the intensity with which our society is asking us to focus on this part of the world is odd and arouses suspicion, especially since I’ve known about him for many years.  Perhaps this man Jason Russell is doing good, and now there is a backlash against him, perhaps a conspiracy to undermine him…and then perhaps the opposite, that he is part of a confusion-spreading agenda.  I posit one thing – The only thing we can do is eliminate violence in our homes, in our neighborhoods, in our schools and in our surroundings, and help spread the idea that violence in any form is wrong, even if white people are doing it.  Righteousness must be earned.

Article about Invisible Children’s Founder (click to go to entire article):

A co-founder for Invisible Children was detained in Pacific Beach on Thursday for being drunk in public and masturbating, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Jason Russell, 33, was allegedly found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something, according to the SDPD. He was detained at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Riviera Road.

An SDPD spokesperson said the man detained was acting very strange, some may say bizarre.
