Breaking through the false abstractions of contemporary art practices means going back to the beginning of the storm. I have drawn a line back to Barnett Newman, an anchor down in the choppy waters of history. Over this boundary line the built-up negativity is channeled into a moment of insight for our protagonist. Lightning represents the immediacy of inspiration, and its relationship with the cyclical imbalance artists face when we push into the edges of knowledge.
